במחנה השמיני הבריטי בצפון אפריקה ואח''כ בתור מומחה לתעמולה פסיכולוגית נגד האויב במחנה החמישי של הצבא האמריקאי.
בתורת מומחה לתכנון ערים, ניהל מחנה של 80 אלף שבויים ותכנן את עיר השבויים על כל פרטיה.
היה פעיל בדרום אפריקה במפלגת ההתאחדות (מפא"י) ובפדרציה הציונית הדרום אפריקאית.
נשא לאשה את ד"ר פירה סנדלר (נפטרה בבולביו במאי 1946) ובזיווג שני נשא לאשה בשנת 1948 את פרידה בת אלטר יחיאל וורשבסקי (עזרה רבות לבעלה בעבודתו).
עורך כבוד של "די נציונאל ז'ורנאל אוף סוציולוגי".
בשנת 1950 מנהל ראשי של "אורט" עולמי בג'נבה.
בשנות 1948, 1949 ביקר בארץ, ובשנת 1952 עלה לארץ והתישב כאזרח באשקלון, ניהל כמנהל כללי את פעולות חברת "אפרידר", המקימה את אשקלון, ושימש גם ראש מועצת אשקלון החדשה. עם איחוד "אשקלון" עם "מגדל אשקלון" מונה מטעם משרד הפנים כראש העירית המאוחדת ובתפקיד זה כיהן עד יום מותו.
בשנת 1952 השתתף בקונגרס בינלאומי של סוציולוגים בתורכיה.
המשיך במחקריו באוניברסיטה העברית.
פרסם חוברות ומאמרים רבים על תכנון ערים וחקר סוציולוגי, וכן פרסם ספרים רבים, בעיקר על חקר אפריקה המרכזית, שהוא עבר אותה לארכה ולרחבה.
